Read about the Improving Pain in Saskatchewan Study.

The Improving Pain Care in Saskatchewan research team grew from SaskPain stakeholder dialogues. The goal of this research is to improve services and supports for pain management in Saskatchewan by giving people living with pain a voice in health services planning. The research is taking place in Saskatoon’s downtown core neighbourhoods, Yorkton, and Regina (pediatric services). Phase 1 of the research is complete with 152 interviews of people living with pain, their supporters, healthcare providers, community based organization representatives, and health services decision makers. Participants identified 61 potential change strategies including new health services, education and awareness, supports for navigation and care coordination, and support groups. Our team is collecting feedback on the phase 1 data. Next steps include developing working groups to plan, implement, and evaluate selected change strategies. Our team has already received additional funding from the Community Initiatives Fund to develop an online education/support group for people living with pain called Partners in Pain - see YouTube links below for the recorded pilot sessions. Look for event announcements on our social media (Facebook: Improving Pain in SK and Instagram: @improvingpainsk).
